Saturday, 15 June 2019 08:00.AM

The Junction BIA and The Sweet Potato are proud to present The Junction Summer Solstice Festival. For the past eight years, this unique festival has been kicking off the summer season and the longest day of the year in Toronto’s favourite meeting place, The Junction. This year’s festival runs from noon to midnight on Saturday, June 22, 2019 with a retro-inspired Beach Party theme!

Enjoy a leisurely stroll from High Park to Indian Grove along Dundas Street West and visit the over 100 local vendors participating in this year’s festival. The festival will feature live music, an art market, delicious food, street performers and exciting entertainment for the whole family. Visitors can participate in a large variety of activities that represent The Junction’s passion for creativity and community.

Do you love live music? Whether you’re into energetic punk rock or laid back indie-folk, the Summer Solstice Festival features bands that cover every genre. Our Main Stage has nonstop music all day from popular Toronto artists. If you’ve ever wanted to perform in front of your own band, check out the live karaoke on our Community Stage. Our headliner, Wing Night (the band) is a tremendously successful 90’s R&B/Hip Hop cover band that makes upbeat music which engages large crowds with exuberance and charisma.

Renowned for our diversity and variety of arts and culture - our festival wouldn’t be complete without a grand display of visual art. The Art Market features twenty local Canadian artists ranging from photographers to abstract/acrylic painters. See something you like? All of the art on display is available for purchase as well.

Food, glorious food! Who doesn’t love food?
With over 30 restaurants and cafes offering exclusive Summer Solstice menus, you'll be sure to satisfy your sweet tooth, cravings and/or discover your inner foodie. There are plenty of options that cater to all different dietary needs. Delicious vegan meals, scrumptious sugary sweets, and foods from across the globe that can take you on a worldwide adventure from the comfort of your neighbourhood.

If your kids are begging for the warmth and excitement of a summer beach, look no further. The Summer Solstice Festival’s Tropical Kid Zone brings the beach to you! Our 30-foot high dual lane, giant Ocean Quest Slide will take you on an undersea adventure, while the sand castles, surf board and life raft in the Tropical Obstacle course will make you feel like you’re right on the beach. For the really young ones, we have a preschool play area as well. And of course, Toronto’s favourite meeting place wouldn’t be the same without The Junction Express -- all aboard the antique, trackless train. Our Tropical Kid Zone is going to provide your children with a summer day they’ll never forget.
