Exciting news from the Toronto Zoo โ€” a newborn Bactrian camel calf was born on April 30, 2026! ๐Ÿช In this video, youโ€™ll get a first look at the adorable baby camel spending time with its mother, Suria, in the Bactrian camel enclosure located in the Eurasia Wildlife Zone.

This is Suriaโ€™s third calf with male camel Zip, and with this new arrival, the Toronto Zooโ€™s Bactrian camel herd has now grown to seven camels. Both mother and baby are doing well, and zoo staff are closely monitoring them during this important early bonding period.

The first month of a camel calfโ€™s life is especially critical, so while mother and baby continue to bond, they may not always be visible to visitors. In this special early footage, you can see the newborn calf near its mother as the pair begins this exciting new chapter.

Bactrian camels are famous for their two humps, incredible cold-weather adaptation, and resilience in harsh climates. Seeing a newborn Bactrian camel is a rare and memorable experience for zoo visitors and wildlife lovers alike.

If you enjoy baby animal videos, zoo updates, wildlife documentaries, or visiting the Toronto Zoo, this video gives you a unique look at one of the zooโ€™s newest arrivals.
